1. Mount Batur:
One of Bali's volcanoes, Mount Batur, is a must-climb for anybody visiting the island. With just flashlights and the moonlight to guide you as you set out in the middle of the night on the steep and challenging journey (a tour guide is advised), the views from the peak are incredible.
And rest easy; Mount Batur hasn't experienced a volcanic eruption in 19 years. You can see Mount Agung in the distance, Bali's highest peak and holiest site. It last erupted just three months ago, in November 2018.
Unquestionably one of the highlights of my trip to Bali was seeing the sunrise from the volcano's summit.

Locals frequently use these natural pools for purification and leisure. 3. The Jatiluwih Rice Terraces:
The huge Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, Bali's first UNESCO World Heritage Site, are a breathtaking sight to behold and extend as far as the eye can see.
Due to the tropical temperature, the high mineral content of the soil from Bali's active volcanoes, and the intricate river system, the broad lowlands and valleys are ripe and fertile, ideal for growing rice and other crops. Early in the morning, when there aren't many people around, is the best time to visit Jatiluwih. As an alternative, arrive in the late afternoon or just before dusk.
The rice terraces are a must-see for visitors since Balinese farmers have proudly grown rice for millennia using ancient technology that sculpted the environment into this renowned beauty.

4. Bali's Waterfalls:
Numerous magnificent waterfalls of different sizes and kinds are hidden deep in the mountains in the less visited north.
I urge you to experience at least one of these magnificent waterfalls in Bali, especially if it's a hot day and you are not living in a water villa where you can cool down. It can be challenging to reach the waterfalls. There is a lot of walking and stair climbing. While some waterfalls are trickier to get than others, I assure you that the effort is worthwhile.
Since most of these significant waterfalls are in the north, it is suggested that you stay at a homestay in Munduk or Lovina to have enough time to explore them thoroughly.
5. Bali's Smaller Islands (Gili & Nusa Islands):
Travelling to the surrounding, utterly stunning smaller islands by speed boat is one of the joys of a trip to Bali.
There are two choices: the Nusa Islands (Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan, and Nusa Penida) or the Gili Islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air). It almost feels like escaping to your exotic island retreat; Balinese life is authentic and unspoiled by tourism and business.
Schedule time to visit one or both of the island groups. You might also see both if you have more time.
6. Pura Tirta Empul:
The holy Tirta Empul water temple is an exception to the rule that not all popular tourist destinations are worthwhile in crowds. One of Bali's most well-known temples, devoted to the Hindu god Vishnu, was built in 962 AD.
